Blue Gold - World Water Wars

http://www.bluegold-worldwaterwars.com/

This is an eye opener of a movie. It is a very scary thought that the world is running out of fresh water. Everyone should see this movie - young, old, rich, poor. We all NEED drinking water to live. We got it on Netflix. My hubby is going to school for Water Technologies - water conservation, disinfection, protection etc...  I have so much more appreciation for water and how freely we have access to crystal clear, safe drinking water.

Ways we conserve water in our house:
- We have 3 rain barrels
- Save the running water when we are waiting for the tap water to get hot
- Save the water from rinsing the dishes
- Save the baby's bath water
- Use the dehumidifier water in the washing machine

- Don't water our lawn
- Take 5 minute showers
- Do only full loads in the dishwasher and washing machine
- Be mindful of the water we use and how we can use less
- I know this grosses some people out but if they lived with no clean drinking water they would not think twice about it....In the bathroom 'If it's yellow, let it mellow. If it's brown flush it down.' You will save 1.6 to 3 gallons of water per flush. Just think about how much you would save in a week, month, year, 10 years?? It is your family living in your house. Seeing their pee is not going to harm you any way, shape or form. Why do we use good clean drinking water to flush the toilet???? There is no need for that! Someday we will own a grey water system in our home....

Uses for your saved water:
- Water your vegetable garden and flowers (rain water - no soap)
- Water your compost bin (rain water - no soap)
- Use to flush your toilets (soapy/yucky water)
