The Business of Being Born

www.thebusinessofbeingborn.com

This is a FABULOUS documentary on homebirth. Everyone should see this movie (I think I am going to say that about all the documentaries I recommend) This gives such a great view of homebirth and shows the unspoken dangers of hospital birth. I had a home, water birth with my son 1 year ago. It was the most amazing, wonderful, scary, overwhelming event of my life but I would have not wanted it any other way (just a shorter labor - 40 hours was a bit too much).

You don't have to do what everyone else does. You don't have to have your baby in the hospital where you are treated like you are sick and need to be 'helped' my medical interventions. Your body is designed to create life, birth that life and then feed it. Why is all of that being taking away from women? Take back your birthing rights! Have a labor where you can eat (it is needed to give you strength), drink, have supportive people around you, be able to walk around, allow your body to move (this is vital to help the baby move down), not have 14 thousand people looking at your crotch and checking you, be able to birth your baby in any position that feels good to you and have your baby in your arms and at your breast the minute he/she is born. Statistics have proven that homebirths are as safe or safer than hospital births! I would strongly recommend having a qualified Midwife at your birth. They are well trained in how to handle emergencies.

I do own this movie if anyone is interested in watching it. I would love to see it again.

:)
